Movie Review: The Prodigy

Simple Review: Not very smart!

Being a parent is a frightening venture that will test any persons confidence and reveal a new level of anxiety. From worrying about your child’s health, safety, choice of friends to keeping him or her as far from the internet as possible, parents can be in what feels like a 24-hour horror movie. Oh sure, kids are a blessing and I wouldn’t trade mine for anything in the world, except maybe Scarlette Johansson’s phone number ( just kidding), it is a challenge to enter into child rearing. If it wasn’t scary enough, imagine if your kid was part young Sheldon and part Hannibal Lector! Needless to say, your kid wouldn’t be getting too many invites to parties at Chuck E Cheese. Following this line of thought comes the new horror movie, The Prodigy, a film dealing with such a “gifted” child and the chaos that follows in his wake. Does The Prodigy deliver a beautiful bundle of joy, or is it the equivalent of your friends ugly baby that you lie and tell its parents it is adorable? ( It’s ok we’ve all done it)  Continue reading “Movie Review: The Prodigy”

Movie Review: The Possession of Hannah Grace

Simple Review: D.O.A

Among the memorable moments of the year of our Lord 1973, two events stand out in the film world: The Exorcist was released and a certain brilliant movie blogger was born. Due to the success of the former, we have seen a wide array of movies involving supernatural possessions and exorcisms, while the latter has brought joy to tens of people in this world. The Exorcist set the bar so incredibly high in this type of horror genre that very few have even come close to scaring the hell out of us like that flick! This week The Possession of Hannah Grace tries to release its inner demon on us, the unsuspecting audience, in hopes of scaring the split-pea soup out of us. Is the movie a holy terror, or will it make your head spin? The only way to find out is to grab your crucifix and exercise the demons of this review. Movie Review- Overlord

Simple review- Old blood and guts

Ohhhh those pesky Nazi’s! Just when you thought you had seen it all from those jerks along comes Overlord to add some supernatural hijinx to the list of their nastiness. Not to downplay the real atrocities the Nazi’s committed during World War II but are there any better movie villains that everyone loves to hate? Just the sight of those grey uniforms decorated with Nazi paraphernalia is enough to get any fedora wearing archeologist to start swinging his fists. Add to that some crazy experiments trying to create an unstoppable army and you’ll need more than a rocketeer to fight back the terror. Do these Nazi mad scientists succeed in creating a super soldier army, or do our Ally heroes stop the blitzkrieg? Well, put down that history book and forget what your teachers taught you about World War II so we can attack this review with shock and awe! Continue reading “Movie Review- Overlord”

Nine Underrated Horror Movies

As we reach the finish line of the Halloween season, I have one last treat to toss into your Halloween bucket. Every horror movie fan can rattle off a list of the best horror movies ever and, just as quickly, they can name the worst ever made. The best part of horror movie fandom is we tend to love the bad ones as much as the great ones. There is another category of horror movie that isn’t quite good enough to make the “best of” list but definitely rises above the bottom dwellers of the genre. Through intensive scientific research involving technology and concepts your primitive intellect wouldn’t understand ( Who got that reference?), I have compiled a list of nine underrated horror movie you should watch if you dare. Why nine? Ten seems too obvious and eleven would cause me to endlessly reference This is Spinal Tap. So allow me to indulge my artistic eccentricity and scare the pee pee out of you!
